Does your email contain a simple unsubscribe function?

It is essential for all marketing emails to contain an unsubscribe function.

Have you tested the deliverability of your email?

Does it land in the Inbox - or has it been filtered to the junk folder? Tweak the content and headers to improve your inbox placement.

How does your content appear in different Browsers / Email Clients?

Create test accounts in Outlook 03/07; gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc to check the look of your message in these mailboxes.

Is your ‘Call To Action’ above the fold?

The use of Preview Panes impacts on the likelihood of a user to fully open your message - make sure your main points can be seen in a preview pain situation - horizontal and vertical.

Have you included a hosted / mirror page version of your message?

It is important that you provide a link to an online version of your email. This is so people can view your email campaign if it does not render properly in their email browser.

How does your email look with "Images Off"?

Most email browsers will not show images initially and some not at all. Make sure your email campaign looks okay with images off and still conveys all the relevant information. - using Informative Alt Tags and Text blocks will improve your email's appeal with 'images off'.

Are you making full use of the Pre Header in your email campaign?

The use of Preview Panes impacts on the likelihood of a user to fully open your message - make sure your main points can be seen in a preview pain situation - horizontal and vertical.

Are you catering for Mobile or Blackberry users?

Increasingly emails will be read on non standard devices - have you included such devices in your testing.

Are you sending a multipart email?

Make sure you include a text version of your email. This is because some browsers will only accept text versions. Also Spam Scores can be reduced by having TEXT versions.

Does your email code contain any CSS style sheets and or scripting?

CSS style sheets do not render in email browsers. Remove them and replace them with inline style codes. Scripting like JavaScript and PHP will cause your email to be blocked as Spam, as these will be perceived to contain viruses.

Does your text version keep to the ISO 646 sub-set?

This is a list of characters that can be used in text emails. Characters outside of this will not render properly in all browsers.

Is your creative less than 600 pixels wide?

Most email browsers will only have a view pain of 600px. If your email is wider than this it may not render properly.
