Barcelona 24hrs : the MailPerformance 33 Team climbs to 1st place in the Superstock category and 4th place overall !

The MailPerformance 33 Team, managed by Gilles Caballo and led by its drivers Dylan Buisson, Bernard Cuzin and Nans Chevaux (Kawasaki ZX-10) held its own at the 17th Barcelona 24hrs race on the 16th & 17th July over a testing course full of twists and turns. Evidence the fact that only 25 out of 40 teams managed to finish the race. The last half-hour saw the rain arrive, but that didn't spoil the glorious day with the Team keeping its position right to the finish line !

The Team completed the first stage of the race in 4th position when the fuel stops commenced. As night fell, the Team swung between 3rd and 5th place and was in 3rd place at break of dawn but the official Superbike Suzuki grabbed 3rd place around 7.30 a.m.. Bernard Cuzin kept up the pressure on his rival and achieved his best time ! Was this the effect of the persistence of the MailPerformance Team ? But the Suzuki never crossed the finish line, dropping out just before. So the 33 Team enjoyed an unexpected but well deserved 3rd place.

However the race rules saw it differently, since a breakdown in the last laps officially does not disqualify the bike provided it has completed 75% of the distance covered by the winners. Therefore the Team was placed 4th in the General category. Bernard Cuzin, one of the key drivers behind this success and a pillar of the Team explains : « This was our first race on a Kawasaki, we are delighted with the final result, first place in Superstock and so close to the podium. We really wanted to do well on this track which is particularly close to our hearts, we have some good memories and several podium places from here over the years. So we are very happy to have managed a good result. ».

Gilles Caballo, manager of the MailPerformance 33 Team, concludes : « After two successive disappointing seasons, we are very encouraged by the technical and sport potential of the new Kawasaki. Bravo to our riders for their courage on the track, to the mechanics for their work during the race and the whole Team for such a good result. I would also like to thank our main sponsors, namely MailPerformance, without whom nothing would have been possible ! ».

Next meeting : the Le Mans 24hrs which we will take part in on the 24th & 25th September with the hope of winning the Superstock category once again !
